Enhancing the way you see, feel and experience art.

“The task of art is to take hold of the shining, the radiance, the manifestation, of that which as spirit weaves and lives in the world.”

RUDOLF STEINER

AWAKEN YOUR SENSES AND FIND YOURSELF THROUGH BRINSDEN'S ARTWORKS.

Dianna Brinsden is a Contemporary Artist, living in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. Her artworks inspire to create connections through emotion-evoking energies.

Brinsden has a curious eye that inspires the way she sees lines, colours, textures, form, light and space. She’s drawn to harnessing health and spiritual awakening through artistic experiences, creating a bridge between physical reality and supersensible reality.

As an interdisciplinary artist, Dianna has worked in many different forms – including sculpture, painting, performance art, video art and socially engaged art.

Her work is inspired by Rudolf Steiner.

She was mentored by John Lyall and later completed a Master of Fine Arts at Elam under Sean Kerr and P. Mule, her supervisors. She worked as an artist in Europe and studied painting with Greet Helsen, Andreas Durrer, Charles Blockey and Freddy Buchwalder at the Beppe Assenza Malschule in Basel, Switzerland, and anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner philosophy at the Goetheanum - before returning to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2012.

AS A CHILD, DIANNA COULD SEE AND FEEL THE PRESENCE OF ART ALL AROUND HER.

Setting a path for development in imagination, inspiration and intuition.

A daydreamer in her early-years, Dianna would weave between the physical and supersensible reality. She would see colours in the space in her room - dancing in the twilight, darkness and dawn. Fluid and transparent in nature, moving between form and experience, they would come forward and recede, shining context in juxtaposition. Feeling energy and traveling places in her dreams, informed her way of thinking.

The grace of time gifted Dianna with the knowledge that none of this was by chance - the events and the meetings were all leading her to a point.

FOLLOWING A PATH SHE'S UNDENIABLY BEEN LED TO.

Dianna consciously brings her life-long connection to art to life through her artworks - enhancing the way you see, feel and experience art.

To speak through her art. Imbuing colour, light, movement and sound in everything she touches. Sharing this with people who seek to find themselves through emotion-evoking artworks.

This journey is a calling. She hopes you feel this, too.

A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST.
ART AS EXPERIENCE.

The art I bring into existence is about creating an experience in the seeing, a bridge between physical reality and supersensible reality.

As did Joseph Beuys, I see a task to shine a light on Rudolf Steiner’s work and the supersensible experience. To develop one’s eye to these forces and speak this through my means - the art experience.

Throughout my life I have had crossing threshold moments and colour experiences which I strive to recreate in my work. At times it can seem like a futile endeavour as often the success is not in the work, per se, but in the experience it can imbue. The work is an invitation and is only alive through the participation of the see-er.

Building on the achievement of Goethe ‘Theory of Color’, Rudolf Steiner and Beppe Assenza, colour affects us in many areas of life - including our health and sense of wellbeing. Through exploring the individual qualities of colour, within time, space,  the colour surface, gestural and linear forms of expression, I emphasise the intended mood and energy of colours within spaces. The ‘living weaving, moving colour,’ evokes emotion, the spirit, in and through art to bring health-giving forces to life.

“If you realize,” Steiner states, “that art has a relation to the spirit, you will understand that both in creating and appreciating it, art is something through which one enters the spiritual world.”

COLOUR AND MOVEMENT OF COLOUR

Designed to highlight and emphasise the intended mood and energy of colours within spaces, each work is an interplay between colour and lineal perspective. These works speak to the edges between things, and the beauty of colour emerging from a surface and the affects that colour can have on a person and their environment.

A homage to her childhood experiences, and to colour studies from Goethe, Rudolf Steiner, and time spent studying colour at the Beppe Assenza Malschule in Basel, Switzerland.
